By Linn’s Staff
On. Dec. 8 the American Philatelic Society announced that Stephanie Katz has been appointed as the society’s new director of technology and innovation.
“We’re very excited for Stephanie to join us,” APS executive director Kirk Gillis said. “Her strong analytical skills and proven experience in digital strategy, SEO [search engine optimization], and project management will be crucial as we embark on a comprehensive digital transformation of the APS.”
Katz has 15 years of experience guiding digital projects, building data tools and improving online search and user experience for a range of organizations, including federal agencies, museums and cultural institutions, and a marketing firm serving Fortune 500 clients. Her recent work in the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Atmospheric Protection earned multiple awards for improving efficiency and supporting modernization efforts.
She previously served as a Fulbright predoctoral research scholar and contributed to a major digital-transformation initiative at Spain’s Prado Museum. Earlier in her career, she spent several years in South America as an educator and bilingual interpreter and later worked as an instructional designer for the University of Queensland’s satellite campus in northern Chile.
Katz holds a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, a master’s degree in arts administration, museum leadership and marketing from Drexel University, and a certificate in women’s entrepreneurship from Cornell University. She volunteers with the U.S. Digital Response and supports several mission-driven organizations in her community.
In the listing for the director of technology and innovation position, the APS said that the director will focus on modernizing the society’s web-based services, to include redeveloping the APS website.
“The Director of Technology & Innovation will lead the strategic use of technology to optimize operations, strengthen member engagement, and enhance learning and e-commerce capabilities,” the APS said.Connect with Linn’s Stamp News:
