Milcopex will offer ‘Uniquely Wisconsin’ experience
By Linn’s Staff
The Milwaukee Philatelic Society will host Milcopex June 14-15 at the Brookfield Convention Center, 325 S. Moorland Road, in Brookfield, Wis., about 10 miles west of Milwaukee.
The theme for the show is “Uniquely Wisconsin,” with special one-page noncompetitive exhibits highlighting that topic.
Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission and parking are free.
Milcopex expects a bourse (sales area) of more than 20 dealers offering postage and revenue stamps, covers, postal history, stamp collecting supplies and philatelic literature.
The show will include 125 frames of competitive exhibits. Milcopex is an American Philatelic Society World Series of Philately show. The multiframe grand award winner will be eligible for the Champion of Champions competition at the Great American Stamp Show in Hartford, Conn., Aug. 15-18.
The single-frame grand award winner will be eligible for the single-frame championship at the Chicagopex show Nov. 22-24 in Itasca, Ill.
The show will host celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the Milwaukee Philatelic Society and the 75th anniversary of the American Topical Association, which was founded in Milwaukee by Jerry Husak.
Additionally, Milcopex will commemorate Flag Day on June 14, a holiday with its roots tracing back to 1885, when Bernard Cigrand, a small-town teacher from Wisconsin, first proposed the concept of an annual celebration dedicated to the flag.
Numerous silent auctions will be held throughout the event.
More details about the show are available online.
