Scott Catalog News by Charles Snee
Another month has passed, and that means it’s time to reveal another batch of new Scott catalog numbers.
The editors of the Scott catalogs each month assign catalog numbers to new issues from the United States, United Nations and postal services from around the world.
The new Scott numbers provided here are for recently issued U.S. stamps. New Scott numbers for worldwide stamps are given in the Scott New Listings Update in Scott Stamp Monthly.
Included in this month’s listings are Scott numbers for four nondenominated (66¢) forever definitive stamps picturing vibrantly colored pinatas. Also Scott official are four nondenominated (66¢) forever stamps featuring decorative snow globes appropriate to the Christmas season; a single nondenominated (66¢) forever commemorative stamp celebrating the successful OSIRIS-REx mission to gather a sample from the asteroid Bennu and return it to Earth; a single nondenominated (66¢) forever commemorative stamp honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933-2020), who served as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court; and a quartet of nondenominated (66¢) forever special stamps picturing stylized artwork of four woodland animals — a deer, rabbit, owl and fox — set in scenes evoking the approaching winter season. In addition, imperforate examples of the OSIRIS-REx and Ruth Bader Ginsburg stamps, which come from uncut press sheets without die cuts, received Scott numbers.
What do these Scott numbers signify? In short, each stamp’s listing in an upcoming edition of the Scott catalogs.
Having these numbers handy will allow you to easily locate these stamps in the Scott catalogs and learn about their production and values.
