Polar philately salon area at Boston 2026 World Expo
By Linn’s Staff
The show floor of the Boston 2026 World Expo will include a polar salon area devoted to polar philately, Boston 2026 public relations chair Thomas Fortunato said in a Feb. 12 press release.
The polar salon will feature polar artifacts, noncompetitive polar philatelic material, displays, and approximately 200 frames of exhibits related to polar philately.
A team of four polar philately experts will judge the competitive exhibits, and an International Federation of Philately (FIP) judging option will be available.
All exhibitors will receive a show medal, and multiframe, single-frame and reserve winners will be awarded with donated special prizes.
Further details and an exhibition prospectus will be announced soon, Fortunato said.
The polar salon will be supported in part by a $25,000 donation from Jiri Kraus, a polar philatelist from the Czech Republic.
Polar philately focuses on stamps, covers and associated documents related to the exploration of the polar Arctic and Antarctic regions. Members of polar philately societies around the world are expected to participate in the polar salon.
Boston 2026 World Expo will take place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Show details and instructions to sign up for email updates can be found on the expo’s website and via the expo’s Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram pages.
