Postcard club to host June 8 Postcrossing meetup at Napex

Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke
The Capitol-Beltway Postcard Club will meet at the Napex stamp show on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a Postcrossing meetup. The Napex show will be held June 7-9 at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, Va.
A meetup is an informal gathering of postcard-writing enthusiasts who use the Postcrossing.com website. Socializing and signing postcards are the basics of the event.
According to the Postcrossing.com website, “The goal of this project is to allow anyone to send and receive postcards from all over the world!”
After setting up an account, you can send postcards to random individuals around the world, and in exchange, you receive postcards from different random people. The website provides further details about how this postcard exchange works.
Linn’s Stamp News has produced and sent to show organizers the postcard design shown nearby for the meetup that will be available to the attendees. It will not be available from Linn’s directly.
Show organizers are requesting registration for the event online. There is a checkbox item for the meetup at the end of the show registration form.
Additional information on the meetup is on the Postcrossing forum.
It has been interesting having these Postcrossing meetups at stamp shows as it has boosted attendance from an audience that might not typically have traveled to attend a show. And Linn’s has been happy to play a part in this effort.
