Report: U.S. stamp to honor Janis Joplin
American rock and blues singer and musician Janis Joplin (1943-70) is expected to be the subject of a United States stamp in 2014, according to an article published Jan. 9 by The Wall Street Journal.
Stefanie Cohen reports, “The [Joplin] estate has worked with the U.S. Postal Service to create a commemorative stamp, out later this year.”
If issued, it is likely a Janis Joplin stamp would be part of the Music Icons series. A USPS spokesman contacted by Linn’s would not confirm the report.
