Scott U.S. Pocket catalog receives updated look

Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke
The Scott catalog editorial team has revamped the look of the 2024 Scott United States Pocket Stamp Catalogue. The new catalog debuted in November.
Spiral binding has returned, and the page sizes are now 6 inches by 9 inches. While larger than the average pocket size, the new size is perfect for a briefcase to carry the catalog at a stamp show.
The other major revision is the layout of a page. In previous editions, the stamp images were spread out, sometimes pages away from the actual listings.
In the new edition, the images of the stamps are with the listings. And the same holds true for the checkboxes. Boxes appear on the right side of the listings when a value appears in the unused or used columns. If the item isn’t known in that condition, a box doesn’t appear.
For modern panes of stamps with multiple designs, collectors are encouraged to circle the letters in the catalog’s descriptive text to indicate the individual stamps they own. That way collectors can keep track of the used singles in their collections.
The new catalog is item No. P112024 and is available online or by calling 800-572-6885.
