In a surprise July 9 announcement, the United States Postal Service said it will issue a single nondenominated (73¢) forever stamp in honor of the nation’s healthcare community.

The official release date and location will be revealed at a later date, the USPS said.

According to the Postal Service, the stamp will be issued in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“The artwork consists of health-related icons spelling out the stacked words ‘thank you’ against a pristine white background,” the Postal Service said. “Running across the lower right edge of the stamp are the words ‘Healthcare’ in gray and ‘Community’ in surgical green.”

Bryan Duefrene served as designer and art director for the new Healthcare Community stamp, which will be issued in panes of 20.

The Healthcare Community stamp joins two other recent surprise commemorative issues in the 2024 U.S. stamp program.

A stamp honoring Alex Trebek (1940-2020), the longtime host of the popular TV quiz show Jeopardy!, will be issued July 22.

A stamp celebrating Major League Baseball legend Hank Aaron and the 50th anniversary of his breaking the all-time home run record in 1974 is set to debut July 31. Both stamps were profiled in the July 22 issue of Linn’s Stamp News.

Additional details about the Healthcare Community stamp will be published in a future issue of Linn’s.
