By Linn’s Staff
The United States Postal Service will collaborate with the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame (NLLHOF) to host a dedication event for the Henry “Hank” Aaron commemorative forever stamp Aug. 17 in Bowie, Md., outside of Washington, D.C.
The dedication event will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Prince George’s County Stadium, 4101 Robert S. Crain Highway, in Bowie.
The event will occur before the 2024 Negro League Legends Hall of Fame East-West vintage baseball game, which marks the 91st anniversary of the Negro East-West All-Star game that took place Sept. 10, 1933, at Comiskey Park in Chicago.
This year’s East-West vintage baseball game features former high school, college and minor league players, among others, dressed in vintage attire representing the diversity of players who played in the early to mid-1900s.
Free tickets to all the day’s events are available online from the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame.
Negro League Legends Hall of Fame founder Dwayne Renal Sims and USPS strategic communications specialist Mark Wahl will serve as dedicating officials.
A special pictorial cancellation will be available at the event and at the Bowie post office (6710 Laurel-Bowie Rd, Bowie, MD 20715) until Sept. 17.
The USPS scheduled an official first-day ceremony for the Henry “Hank” Aaron commemorative forever stamp July 31 at Truist Park stadium in Atlanta.
