Stamp dealer Stanley Gibbons issues profit warning: Morning Report
Linn's Stamp News gives you a quick look at what's going on in the world of stamp-collecting.
1. Stanley Gibbons profit warning
Rare stamp dealer Stanley Gibbons issued a profit warning on April 2, according to an April 3 report from The Independent.
"It said 'a number of anticipated high-value sales' were not completed by its March year-end, although it 'expects a number of them' to go through in this half."
The dealer's new collectibles website has been pushed back to May.
2. Quote controversy
That quote on the Angelou stamp?
"In 1969 the acclaimed author and poet published an autobiography titled I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, but the line on the stamp isn't from that book, or apparently, from any other book written by Angelou."
