Chocolate-scented stamps highlight Myrtle Beach show: Morning Report

Feb 6, 2015, 6 AM

Linn's Stamp News gives you a quick look at what's going on in the world of stamp-collecting:

1. What smells good?

The Myrtle Beach Stamp & Postcard Show will have a distinct flavor this weekend—chocolatey. published a Feb. 5 report about the Feb. 7-8 show, the theme of which is "250 Years—Chocolate in the USA." Stamps printed on chocolate-scented paper will be on display.

"Donn Ebert of Conway, longtime [Myrtle Beach Stamp Club] president, said many people have asked him about chocolate’s connections to stamps," the report reads. "He said various foreign countries, such as Belgium, Liberia and Switzerland, have issued stamps on chocolate-scented paper. Although the sweet aromas with those stamps fade with time, people’s fancy with the treats never has, and developing a 2015 show theme met the stamp club’s taste."
