86th Balpex show set for Oct. 25-27 at new location

The 86th annual show of the Baltimore Philatelic Society, Balpex, will take place Oct. 25-27 at a new location: the BWI Airport Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum Heights, Md.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
One scheduling change is the two-day postal history symposium planned for Oct. 23-24 prior to the show has been canceled.
The American Topical Association will celebrate its 75th anniversary at Balpex, and the United Postal Stationery Society will host its fall convention during the show.
Societies and clubs holding their regional meetings at Balpex include the Manuscript Society, American First Day Cover Society, British North America Philatelic Society, Ebony Society, Capitol Beltway Postcard Club, Chesapeake Philatelic Society and Germany Philatelic Society Chapter 16.
In addition to a bourse (sales area) with stamp dealers, the show will include dealers selling ephemera (collectible paper).
Balpex is an American Philatelic Society World Series of Philately show. The multiframe grand award winner will qualify for the Champion of Champions competition at the Great American Stamp Show in Schaumburg, Ill., Aug. 14-17, 2025.
The single-frame grand award winner will be eligible for the single-frame championship at the Chicagopex show in Itasca, Ill., Nov. 21-23, 2025.
The jury for exhibits at Balpex is led by Liz Hisey, with fellow judges Ken Nilsestuen, Daniel Warren, Ross Towle and Ed Andrews. Also serving on the jury is apprentice judge Behruz Nassre.
Awards for exhibiting will be presented Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.
