Postmarks for The Wall that Heals, Vietnam veterans

Postmark Pursuit by Molly Goad
The Aug. 24 United States Postal Service Postal Bulletin included two Auburn, N.Y., postmarks honoring Vietnam veterans.
The logo for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica and Mobile Education Center, also known as The Wall that Heals, is shown on the first cancellation listed.
The Wall that Heals is a tribute to the more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War and bears the names of those who lost their lives in Vietnam.
The traveling exhibit includes a three-fourths scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The 2023 tour will conclude in November after stopping in 32 communities throughout the year.
The second pictorial postmark, shown nearby, includes the text “Welcome Back Vietnam Vets” below a 35-millimeter camera with silhouettes of veterans in the lens.
To obtain the postmarks, address your request to:
THE WALL THAT HEALS Station and AUBURN Station, Postmaster, 1 James St., Auburn, NY 13021-9998, Sept. 1-Nov. 11.
— (Logo with wall image, “Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica & Mobile Education Center, A Program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Founders of the Wall.”)
— (Cancellation shown nearby.)
